A few things i learned were that all the countries in Africa except Ethiopia were colonized by European countries. Most didn't get their independence back until between 1941-1980. In the continent of Asia you have Japan, China and Iran who have been independent since before the 1800's and you also have very young countries that got their independence between 1980 and today. Today there are still some countries in Russia fighting for independence.
The European countries often lost the control of their colonies after World War I and World War II. Now i understand why so many of the countries in Africa are so far behind economically.
